Our experience

Functional web sites, web apps and web based software

Our core expertise lies in creating advanced web sites or web applications. These are complex, data driven sites usually with bespoke business logic or integrations. eg e-commerce, media delivery platform, sales management, training or knowledge management.

We work closely with our customers to properly understand the challenges they wish to overcome. Only by having a deep comprehension of their business and the desired outcome can we design and build the best system for them. However, we appreciate that things change and so our system designs enable us to make enhancements and upgrades without having to go back to the drawing board. See examples…

Collaboration Platforms

Working with organisations, we have seen a shift in the last few years away from static intranet and extranets towards collaborative platforms. These enable employees to create, comment and share documents with others in geographically different locations either within their company or external suppliers. Our TAG (Training & Guidance) and Xpin products are both collaborative platforms which address some of these requirements. TAG enables knowledge to be collated and shared across an organisation at which point Xpin allows commenting and document collaboration. High value manufacturers are using these platforms to improve their workforces access to detailed technical information and importantly have contact with the creators. This allows for knowledge to be shared and updated very quickly which ultimately improves their manufacturing reliability. See examples…

I’ve been advised we should have Cloud, SAAS, web 2.0, API’s, widgets, dongles and salted bubble sorts
We have several key electronic systems but they don’t talk to each other
We want to expose some data held on our internal system to our customers but don’t know where to start
Our IT department are doing a good job supporting staff but not the business digital demands

With decades of experience we know how to think about a project as well as build them. This usually means digging below the initial requirements to get to the business needs which in turn can lead us to a different outcome.

A discovery process occurs at the start of all our formal projects but is also something we offer as a separate process. Companies wishing to investigate a technical challenge without wanting to think about the development can hire our broad experience to get to grips with a problem.

Mobile apps

With the dramatic increase of smart phones, facilitating some of your business services via a mobile app makes a lot of sense. This is particularly true when device hardware features are being used, like GPS, camera or address book.  Currently we use Phonegap, a mobile development framework that enables us to build applications for mobile devices using JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3, instead of device-specific languages. This means we can write code that will work on both iPhone and Android devices. See examples…

Desktop apps

We have been creating desktops apps for decades and delivered applications measure into the hundreds and shipped units into the millions. These have been created using Adobe Director, Adobe Flash, Adobe Flex and more recently Adobe AIR. AIR allows us to wrap a single application and deliver it to both Mac and PC with 100% cross platform feature support. See examples…

Cloud services integration

Can we use a cloud service and save money?

The answer is probably yes since there are such a wide range there is something to match almost any need.

  • Adding cloud storage to an ecommerce web site
  • Integrating transactional email for an existing user management system
  • Updating Salesforce user accounts automatically via internal processes
  • Add a SMS/txt reminder service to a bookings system

Off-the-shelf product recommendations

Can you recommend a system or service that will solve this problem?

A common problem for businesses is lack of awareness of existing products. Considerable time and money can be saved where common requirements are needed and there are many products to suit that need.

Our development process

We use a very standardised 4 step process which we apply to all projects. Following these steps enables us to stick to deadlines and budgets. We find that front-loading projects via a strong Discovery step pays dividends in the long run.

1. Discovery

  • Project discovery and specification

2. Design

  • Technical architecture and infrastructure design
  • Wireframes and flow diagrams
  • UX design and testing

3. Development

  • Code creation
  • Database creation
  • Cloud services integration
  • Testing and quality assurance

4. Deployment

  • Publishing mobile apps / making web sites live
  • Hosting and support
